I've always loved books. Little Women and Five Little Peppers were two old books given to me by my Aunt Alice Faye. I read them over and over. She also gave me some Kay Tracey and Cherry Ames mysteries, which were lesser known young sleuths much like Nancy Drew. Of course I still have all those books and added many others. The favorite thing my Daddy made me was a bookcase, made specifically to fit my favorite books. It sits in my living room now.
Then there were the armloads of books I carried home from the Kingston, Tennessee library and every library I've lived near my entire life. So while I loved writing, it seemed too much to even dream about becoming an author.
I mean, everyone wants to write books, right?
Then after I was grown and a mom to three, I expressed my dream at a book club one night. "Don't you wish you'd written that book?" I asked. I was met by blank stares. Slowly they answered. No's all around the table. When I got home I asked Mike and he said writing a book had never even crossed his mind.

This was life changing to me. Everyone didn't dream about being an author?
So I started writing a book and didn't look back. I have written books which will probably never see the outside of my computer, but now I hope readers enjoy venturing into the world of the small town of Chancey, Ga.
If you've visited my Facebook page, you will see many people with the name of Chancey in their names, including my Mama. Chancey is Mama's maiden name and she had 13 siblings, all raised in the North Georgia mountains. They could've populated their own small town, but they didn't. I just used a name I always associated with happy, story-loving people.
And the railroad stuff?
Well, let's just say my husband, Mike, loves trains.
